ANGLING

Youghal is based between Ballycotton and Dungarvan and has easy access to the open sea at all states of tide. This area is lapped by the Gulf Stream and excellent fishing is had. Especially wreck fishing which numbers 38+ within a 30 mile radius of Youghal Harbour most from WWI and WWII.

These were the western approaches for the grounds of U-boats one of which, U1276, we located and dived in 2006 in 75metres, 27 miles offshore. Most of these wrecks are an easy 20-30 minute steam, for further out to deeper wrecks 1 hour steam so no long journeys.

Sea Hunter cruises at 20knots with top end 27 knots so you just have time to tackle up, get bait sorted and you are ready to drop lines. Some of these wrecks are unfished and are teeming with fish – Pollack, Cod, Large Coalfish, Ling and Conger.

Blue Shark and Porbeagle are fished from July to September. All fish are tagged and released to fight another day. There are also reefs and rough ground off Capel Island and inshore ground fishing available in Youghal and surrounding bays.

There is a live bait well on board to keep bait fresh and also a full set of rods and reels 20lb to 80lb from Shimano and Penn available for hire if needed along with tackle.
